Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund Reporting

Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students

In compliance with reporting requirements prescribed for the grant listed above, the following information is posted on Calumet College of St. Joseph’s primary website:

  1. Calumet College of St. Joseph signed and returned to the Department of Education the Certification and Agreement to receive funding under Section 18004(a)(1) of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (“CARES ACT”). No less than 50% of the funds received under this code section will be used to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

  2. The College has been allocated $281,228 pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

  3. As of September 30, 2020, the total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act was $245,300.

  4. Approximately 415 Calumet College students are eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and are thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

  5. The number of Calumet College students that have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act is 338.

  6. Calumet College allocated amounts to award to Title IV eligible students registered on March 16, 2020 based on three primary factors. Those factors included financial need as determined by the FAFSA, full- or part-time status, and undergraduate/graduate status. The amounts awarded ranged from $200 to $1,000 based on these criteria. The grants were transferred via direct deposit to a student’s bank account or via check where banking information was not available.

  7. Students were notified of the College’s plans to distribute the Emergency Financial Aid Grants via email and the College’s COVID information web-site. Students were advised of the intended uses of the emergency financial aid grants for expenses incurred related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus. Grants to eligible undergraduate students were automatic. Grants to eligible graduate students require application.
